7 MORE Things That Suck About Living in a Car

When I talk about living in a car, I always want to speak about the good AND the bad, and give you guys the truth about this alternative lifestyle. But, when I share the “bad,” I never do it to deter you, scare you, or overwhelm you about the idea of living in a car; I share these things to help you prepare and understand what could potentially happen! A few weeks ago, I posted a blog post titled, “7 Things That Suck About Living in a Car,” where I shared 7 “lighter” things that might be hard about living in a car. In this blog post, I wanted to share 7 “deeper” things. Things that might be difficult emotionally or mentally. Things that do not need to scare you, but that it might be good to prepare before the happen.

So, here’s the list!

  1. People - strangers and people you know - will possibly judge you or make fun of you when they find out you live in a car, but hopefully we can build up our confidence in our decisions and not let other people’s opinions or societal norms talk us out of doing something we know is right for us

  2. You will have very little privacy (tinting your windows can help with this)

  3. Dating and friendships are harder to make and harder to keep

  4. It’s much easier to feel lonely, not only because you might be physically alone more often, but because having an alternative lifestyle and doing something that most other people don’t understand, can add to feelings of loneliness

  5. You might miss the creature comforts of a house, like having a kitchen to cook in, a bed to sleep in, a couch to watch tv on, a place for people to visit, or knowing where you’re going to sleep every night

  6. Sometimes, finding a place to sleep can be a little difficult

  7. You might feel less safe when living in a car, mostly because societal norms try to make us THINK it’s less safe than a house

Please let me know if you’d like me to elaborate on any of these points, and make dedicated blog posts about them! I’d be happy to!

Goodnight and God Bless. <3
