I love road trips, and I love traveling simplistically and affordably. Living and sleeping in my car while on road trips (or even sometimes if I’m staying in one place for a while) saves me money, is easy, and has tons of other perks that I explain throughout my YouTube videos and my blog.

While living in my car and traveling the country, I generally sleep at truck stops (Flying J is my favorite). Sometimes I also sleep at rest areas or welcome centers. This is a very common question, and the answer is easier than you might think! I have a gym membership that allows me into any Planet Fitness in the country, so I can shower there! I also sometimes shower at campgrounds, National Parks, and friends’ houses along the way.

I can only share my experience with you, but, my answer to this question is YES. With the tips and tricks I teach you on my YouTube channel and on my blog, you can absolutely make living and sleeping in a car safe. Just take precautions,, just like you would in any situation!

When I started traveling the country, I already owned a car. And, throughout the last nine years of living in it, I never once thought that I needed a van. Van life is awesome, but that doesn’t mean every traveler needs to do it! We must learn what works for us, our budget, our needs, and our goals!
