February Katie Update

Hi, babes! The first Thursday of every month, I’m going to do a little update about me, including where I am, how I’m doing, what I’m loving, maybe a random fact or two, etc. And I’ll probably still do it in numbered or bullet format because that’s just a fun way to write.

PS. I am not going to do specific health/mental health blogs on here (if anyone is interested, maybe I could make a separate blog for that), but I might include anything super important in these monthly updates.

  1. I was recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE), which is an autoimmune disease of the esophagus. It is not curable, but it is treatable with medication and diet (I had to cut out all the top eight allergens). I just started this strict new diet a few days ago, but so far so good! I am in much less pain than I was when all of my symptoms started in November (bad acid reflux, etc). I am hopeful that I can handle this with God’s help and doctors’ care.

  2. Mentally, I am feeling great! Better than I’ve felt in years, honestly. I suffer with very severe depression and anxiety, but a lot of those symptoms have felt much lighter the last few weeks. I have been very productive and I have a sense of joy that I haven’t felt in a long time. I’m so grateful.

  3. I was in NY for the past two months (that’s where my health insurance is), but since my next EOE doctor appointment isn’t until late March, I drove down to Charleston, SC to visit my dad! So I will be in this gorgeous city for almost two months!

  4. I am actually staying at my dad’s house while I am in Charleston, and I will not be sleeping in my car. I just don’t feel comfortable doing that with how sick I’ve been. BUT I will still have many living in a car/road trip ideas in my videos and blogs!

  5. I recently purchased this planner and, my GOODNESS, is it good. I never used to be a planner girl, but I guess the timing of my life mixed with the layout of this planner… I’ve been obsessed. It has really been a great tool to keep me focused and organized.

  6. I have a Cameo!!! So if you want a personalized shoutout of me saying hi, giving you inspiration, or saying Happy Birthday, click this link to check out the pricing options.

  7. Fun fact: I am left-handed. But I’m one of those ambidextrous/mixed-handed people. I write and eat lefty. I use the phone on my left ear and hold my purse with my left hand/shoulder. I bat and golf lefty. But I throw righty. My right hand/arm is stronger, so if I was going to hold something or grab something, I’d probably do it with my right hand. If I played guitar, I would play that righty. BUT, what’s cool is that almost all of the things I listed, I could easily do with the opposite hand (well, maybe not SUPER easily, but much more easily than most people). These are just the hands that feel most natural.

I think that’s enough for now. Let me know any fun facts about you in the comments! :)
